How to register with CadÚnico: see this step-by-step guide

Register with Cadúnico and access various social benefits

THE Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government, known as CadÚnico, is the gateway to various social benefits. It allows low-income families to access programs such as Bolsa Família, the Social Electricity Tariff, the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC), and Minha Casa Minha Vida, among others.

But how do you register with CadÚnico? The good news is that the process is simple and can be completed quickly if you follow the right steps.

    What is CadÚnico?

CadÚnico is a database that gathers information on Brazilian families in situations of social vulnerability. This information is used to select beneficiaries of social programs. Without registration, it is impossible to receive most of these benefits.

    Who can apply?

    You can register with CadÚnico:

    • Families with a monthly income of up to half the minimum wage per person.
    • Families with a total monthly income of up to three minimum wages.
    • People living alone (single-person families).
    • Homeless people.

Step by step guide to register

1# Locate the CRAS in your city
The first step is to go to the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) closest to your home. This is where you can register.

    2# Bring the necessary documents
The person responsible for the family must present:

    • CPF or Voter Registration Card.
    • Identity document (RG).
    • Updated proof of residence.
    • Birth or marriage certificate of family members.
    • CPF or Voter Registration Card of everyone living in the house.

    3# Enter the data correctly
During the interview, the head of the family will need to provide information about income, education, employment, housing, and other circumstances. It's important to answer everything clearly, as this information will be used for inclusion in programs.

4# Receive the NIS (Social Identification Number)
After registration, each family member receives a NIS, which is like an access key to social programs.

Is it possible to update the data?

Yes! Every two years, or whenever there's a change in your family's situation (change of address, birth of a child, change in income, etc.), you must update your CadÚnico. This prevents your benefit from being blocked.

Which programs can be accessed through CadÚnico?

Being registered opens doors to various assistance, such as:

    • Family Allowance.
    • Social Electricity Tariff.
    • Continuous Benefit Payment (BPC).
    • My House My Life.
    • Social gas distribution programs.
    • Exemption from fees in public tenders.

Why is it important to register?

Being registered with CadÚnico doesn't just mean receiving benefits, it also means being officially recognized by the government as part of the population in need of public policies. This increases the chances of inclusion in new programs that emerge in the future.

Many families miss out on benefits simply because they're not registered. Registration is free, quick, and can bring financial relief. So, why not gather your documents and visit your nearest CRAS (National Social Assistance Agency) this week?
